The making of “Becoming Led Zeppelin” was a true labor of love for writer-director Bernard MacMahon and writer Allison McGourty. They had individual meetings with each surviving member of Led Zeppelin to bring this documentary to life. Jimmy Page, in particular, put the filmmakers through some secret tests before agreeing to participate.
Once Page was on board, it was up to MacMahon and McGourty to convince John Paul Jones and Robert Plant to join the project. Jones initially declined but changed his mind after watching the duo’s previous work. Plant, the toughest of the group to convince, eventually agreed to participate after multiple meetings and conversations.
