TV News: Updates on Dexter, Vampire, Linna, and Peacemaker
Showtime has confirmed that Erik King will return to the upcoming series “Dexter: Resurrection” to reprise his role as James Doakes. Showrunner Clyde Phillips made the announcement at CCXP Mexico. In the new season, Doakes will be one of the three hallucinations that Dexter sees upon waking, along with Miguel Prado and Trinity, both played by Jimmy Smits and John Lithgow. All three characters died in the early seasons of the show.
AMC Networks has announced that filming for the third season of “Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire” will start next month in Toronto. The new season will focus on Vampire Lestat, played by Sam Reid, and his rock band going on tour, with a premiere expected in 2026. Before that, viewers can look forward to the new series “Anne Rice’s Talamasca,” starring Jason Schwartzman as a rakish vampire in a luxurious Upper West Side penthouse. The series will premiere in October and also features Nicholas Denton, Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Celine Buckens.
Apple TV+ has ordered a ten-episode series based on Lars Kepler’s Joona Linna novels, with Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, and Stephen Graham set to star. Filming will begin this summer in Pittsburgh. Schreiber plays Jonah Lyn, an ex-soldier turned homicide detective, who relocates to a quiet town in Western Pennsylvania with his family, only to come face to face with a cunning serial killer portrayed by Graham.
DC and HBO Max released a sizzle reel of behind-the-scenes footage for the upcoming second season of “Peacemaker” following a panel at CCXP Mexico. The show returns on August 21st and features an ensemble cast including Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Robert Patrick, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, and many more. James Gunn, Peter Sollett, and Greg Mottola will direct episodes for the new season.
