Tom Hardy replaced in star-studded crime thriller series

There’s been a change in the upcoming Apple TV+ series “Lazarus,” with Stephen Graham stepping into the role that was previously earmarked for Tom Hardy. The show, based on Lars Kepler’s book series, will see Stephen play the notorious serial killer Jurek Walter. The plot revolves around ex-soldier turned detective Jonah Lynn, who must confront Jurek Walter’s reign of terror in a small town in Western Pennsylvania.
The series promises an intense dynamic between characters reminiscent of Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling. Filming is scheduled to begin this summer in Pittsburgh, but as of yet, no release date has been announced.
Joining Stephen Graham in the cast are Liev Schreiber as Jonah Lynn, and Zazie Beetz as FBI Agent Saga Bauer. Tom Hardy, initially set to lead the series, was slated to produce through his company Hardy Son & Baker. However, recent updates reveal that A+E Studios and Range Studio are producing the series for Apple TV+. Rowan Joffe and John Hlavin will co-showrun the project, with Tim Van Patten directing the first two episodes.
