Amazon Prime Video Cancels Popular Series After 3 Seasons

It’s a bummer to report that yet another fan-favorite series on Amazon Prime Video has been canceled after airing three seasons. Although the decision wasn’t easy, Amazon Prime ultimately decided that the economic environment didn’t support continuing the show, despite their creative appreciation for it.

Initially, the series did well, but unfortunately, ratings started to decline during the third season, leading to the cancellation. The good news is that the Season 3 finale was crafted to provide fans with some closure, even though many would have loved to see more seasons.

According to Deadline, Amazon Prime will not be renewing “The Wheel of Time” for a fourth season. This news comes more than a month after the Season 3 finale aired on April 17th, following “lengthy deliberations” by the streaming platform’s executives.

It’s disappointing to see a series with so much potential end after only three seasons. “The Wheel of Time,” based on the book series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson, was a hit for Amazon Prime, becoming their most-watched series premiere in 2021 and one of the Top 5 series launches of all time.

If you’re a fan of the show, you can still watch all three seasons on Amazon Prime. While it’s tough to see high-concept shows struggle in the industry, at least fans got to enjoy a meaningful three-season run. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for more streaming and TV updates as we get them.
