Alabama actor cast as DC universe villain in ‘Peacemaker’ season 2

Season two of “Peacemaker” is set to debut on HBO Max on August 21, 2025. The show, a spinoff of the popular “Suicide Squad,” follows the adventures of the titular antihero, played by John Cena. In the new season, Michael Rooker will portray a villain named Red St. Wild, a world-renowned eagle hunter on a mission to kill Eagly, the beloved sidekick of the Peacemaker.

Fans of Rooker will recognize him from his roles as Yondu Udonta in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, Henry in “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer,” and Merle Dixon in “The Walking Dead,” among others. Rooker has worked with James Gunn, the show’s director, on multiple projects, including “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “The Suicide Squad.”

Following season one of “Peacemaker,” there was a three-year hiatus as Gunn took on additional projects and responsibilities. With the new season set to premiere later this year, fans can expect more action, humor, and drama from this exciting DC Universe show.
