Esky baseball edges out Norway 2-1

On Thursday, Escanaba baseball bounced back from a tough loss to rival Gladstone with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Norway. Junior pitcher Lennox Peacock, also known as Badger, led the charge with an impressive performance on the mound.

Peacock showed his skill by striking out 13 batters across seven innings, giving up just one unearned run and two hits. His dominating performance helped secure the win for the Eskymos at Al Ness Field.

The Eskymos took an early lead in the first inning thanks to a trio of doubles, with junior Nolan Bink, sophomore Mikaiden Hughes, and junior Ashton Rymkos all contributing to the score. Rymkos himself finished 2-for-3 at the plate, helping to seal the victory against a tough opponent like Norway.

After the game, Peacock credited his defense for playing a crucial role in the win, and expressed confidence in his ability to stay in attack mode throughout the game. The win over Norway was a much-needed boost for the Eskymos, allowing them to put their previous loss to Gladstone behind them.

Looking ahead, Norway coach Tony Adams acknowledged the challenge of facing a talented pitcher like Peacock and emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and energy in future games. The Knights will now shift their attention to the upcoming districts, with a game against North Central scheduled for next week.

Overall, the win over Norway was a testament to the Eskymos’ resilience and determination on the field. With a strong team mentality and standout performances from players like Peacock, Escanaba is poised for success as they continue their season in the districts.
