Call Me Izzy Broadway: Starring Jean Smart, Show Begins Run May 24

Starring in the title role is the talented Jean Smart, known for her work on HBO Max’s “Hacks.” Smart plays a woman in rural Louisiana who seeks solace from an abusive marriage through her poetry. This marks Smart’s return to Broadway after a 25-year hiatus, with her last appearance being in a Tony-nominated performance alongside Nathan Lane in a 2000 revival of “The Man Who Came to Dinner.” The show is directed by Sarna Lapine, adding a new perspective to the production.
Completing the cast is Johanna Day, who will be standing by for the show. Joining the creative team are Mikiko Suzuki MacAdams for scenic design, Donald Holder for lighting design, Tom Broecker for costume design, Beth Lake for sound design, Richard Martin for wig design, and T Bone Burnett for original music. The casting is done by David Caparelliotis and Joseph Gery, with Howard Tilkin as the production stage manager and Elizabeth Allen as the assistant stage manager. Olivia Wilusz also joins as the assistant director.
