Rina Sawayama collaborates with Prodigies on Apple TV+

Prodigies, the upcoming romcom series on Apple TV+, has just cast Rina Sawayama, known for her role in John Wick: Chapter 4, to star alongside Ayo Edebiri and Will Sharpe. The show follows Didi and Ren, two former child prodigies questioning if their ordinary lives measure up to their extraordinary childhoods. As they navigate their relationship and individual aspirations, Prodigies challenges the typical romantic narrative that ends when the couple gets together.

Sawayama will portray Hana, Ren’s sister, in a recurring role. The series is created and executive produced by Sharpe, with Edebiri serving as an executive producer as well. Jane Featherstone, Naomi de Pear, and Katie Carpenter are producing for Sister.

Additionally, Sawayama is set to return to the John Wick franchise in the upcoming film, Ballerina. She will reprise her role as Shimazu Akira in a spin-off centered around Donnie Yen’s assassin character, Caine, seeking revenge for her father’s death at his hands.
