New Apple TV+ Series ‘Widow’s Bay’ Features Worcester Bar Setting

Film crews recently took over Vincent’s Bar at 49 Suffolk St. in Worcester to shoot scenes for a new Apple TV+ series called “Widow’s Bay.” The show, starring Matthew Rhys and Stephen Root, is a 10-episode production set on a New England island plagued by a mysterious curse and deep-seated superstitions among its inhabitants.

Rhys, known for his role as Philip Jennings on FX’s “The Americans,” portrays the town’s mayor who dismisses the warnings of the town’s residents. On the other hand, details about Root’s character have not been revealed yet.

This isn’t the first time Vincent’s Bar has been featured in an Apple TV+ series. Back in 2019, the bar was used as a filming location for “Defending Jacob,” starring Chris Evans. For “Widow’s Bay,” crews spent a day refurbishing the interior of Vincent’s Bar to set the scene and filmed on May 20, with plans to wrap up production on May 21.

It’s exciting to see Worcester’s local spots getting recognition in the entertainment industry, and we can’t wait to see how the charm of Vincent’s Bar adds to the suspense of “Widow’s Bay” when it premieres on Apple TV+.
