South Park High School unveils Conspicuous Service Crosses for fallen alumni with no known family.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Nearly 30 former students from South Park High School were honored for their sacrifice in service on Saturday.

The South Park High School Fallen Warrior Project identified 29 former classmates who have no known remaining family members.

During the ceremony, the individuals were honored with a New York State Conspicuous Service Cross.

Obtained on their behalf by the Alumni Association, the 29 Conspicuous Service Crosses will be permanently displayed in the Hall of Honor at South Park High School.

“These Conspicuous Service Crosses will preserve the South Park community’s heritage of military service and serve as a remembrance for future generations,” a school spokesperson said in a release.

The Fallen Warrior Project, led by the South Park Alumni Association, has identified 206 former students who served during World War I through Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The project has also already presented over 100 South Park High School families with their loved ones’ Conspicuous Service Cross.
