OTTs Struggling: Prime Video to Introduce Ads Soon
Amazon has recently announced a change in its Prime Video content starting June 17, 2025. Users can expect to see limited advertisements integrated into the streaming service.
Despite the fact that subscribers pay a fee for their Prime Video memberships, many streaming platforms, including Prime Video, are facing challenges when it comes to covering the high costs of producing and licensing content. Adding advertisements to the platform is seen as a way to help offset these costs and potentially allow for investment in even better shows and movies in the future.
It’s important to note that Prime Video assures users that the number of ads will be kept to a minimum compared to traditional TV and other streaming services. The good news is that there will be no increase in the current Prime membership cost, and users do not need to take any action to continue watching their favorite content.
For those who prefer an uninterrupted, ad-free viewing experience, Amazon will be offering a new add-on plan. By paying either Rs 699 per year or Rs 129 per month, viewers can enjoy Prime Video content without any ads.
It’s worth mentioning that some specific content, such as Amazon MX Player shows, may still contain ads even with the ad-free plan. This is something to keep in mind for fans of those particular programs.
