Riverside Discovery Center Assists Gering Police in Capturing Escaped Peacock
A peacock on the run in Gering met its match with the Riverside Discovery Center’s animal care team. The Gering Police Department called for backup when they encountered the runaway bird near S Street. The zoo’s keeper team sprang into action, with Keeper Malakai Howard successfully capturing the peacock. Howard managed to tackle the bird and keep it safe in his vehicle until authorities arrived. Even though the peacock wasn’t part of the zoo’s collection, the staff were happy to help out. The bird is now in good hands and will soon be returned to its rightful owner. The Riverside Discovery Center expressed their gratitude to the first responders and emphasized the importance of their partnership with local law enforcement. Thankfully, the peacock came out of the incident unscathed and is ready to spread its wings once again.
