ESPN Streaming Service – Overview and Information

The ESPN streaming service is set to launch in late summer 2025, offering a wide range of sports content to viewers in the United States. Owned by ESPN Inc., a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company and Hearst Communications, this over-the-top service will provide access to all of ESPN’s U.S. linear cable channels and ESPN+ content.

This new streaming platform, previously known as ESPN Flagship, will be available in two tiers: select and unlimited. The select plan will include all the existing ESPN+ content, which features events and coverage not shown on ESPN’s traditional channels. Current ESPN+ subscribers will automatically be enrolled in this plan, with the ESPN+ brand remaining active due to contractual obligations with sports leagues. The unlimited plan, at a higher price, will offer additional content from ESPN’s linear cable channels, such as ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPN on ABC.

For the first time, viewers will have the opportunity to access ESPN’s full range of content on a standalone basis, without the need for a traditional TV subscription. This shift to a direct-to-consumer model reflects the growing trend towards streaming services and gives fans more flexibility in how they consume sports content. Existing linear subscribers will automatically have access to the new ESPN streaming service, as indicated by Disney management.
