Netflix will remove interactive specials like Black Mirror’s Bandersnatch soon

Netflix is saying goodbye to one of its groundbreaking ventures by removing Black Mirror’s interactive movie, Bandersnatch, from the streaming platform. This will happen on May 12, along with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend. Bandersnatch, known for its multiple endings, is bowing out just after the release of the seventh season of Black Mirror. In season 7, we see the return of Will Poulter’s character from Bandersnatch, Colin Ritman, who comes up with a new game idea called Thronglets.

Bandersnatch was part of a batch of 24 interactive titles on Netflix, but interactive content has been slowly phased out since November 2024. Even though this particular interactive film is being removed, Black Mirror’s creator, Charlie Brooker, hinted at a potential sequel to Bandersnatch, tentatively titled Banderstruck. Brooker expressed interest in exploring new storylines in this universe.

While the future of Banderstruck remains uncertain, if it does come to fruition, audiences can expect a unique experience, although it won’t involve making decisions like in the original.
