Streaming titan Netflix is constantly on the lookout for new binge-worthy content, and the upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s iconic graphic novel series “Sandman” is definitely on its radar. Originally published by DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint, “Sandman” follows Dream, also known as Morpheus, one of the Endless who personifies dreams, as he navigates the realms of the fantastical and surreal.

With the series in development for Netflix, some details have been revealed. The show is expected to have an initial order of 11 episodes, each around one hour long. Allan Heinberg, known for his work on “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Wonder Woman,” is attached as the showrunner and writer for the series. Gaiman is also involved in an executive producer role, ensuring that the adaptation stays true to his original vision.

Fans of the graphic novel series can look forward to seeing familiar characters like Dream, his siblings Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, Destruction, and Destiny, as well as other characters from the wider Sandman universe. While casting has not been officially announced yet, rumors suggest that Tom Sturridge, known for his roles in “The Boat That Rocked” and “On the Road,” is in talks to play the lead role of Dream. Additional confirmed cast members include Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, and Charles Dance, among others.
