Paramount+ Cancels Frasier and Seeks New Network
The Frasier revival has come to an end at Paramount+ after just two seasons, according to Glamour. But don’t worry, fans of the beloved psychiatrist – there’s still hope! Star and executive producer Kelsey Grammer is feeling optimistic that the show will find a new home.
At 70 years old, Grammer reprised his role as Dr. Frasier Crane in 2023, almost two decades after the original series wrapped up its successful 11-season run on NBC. While the reboot took Frasier back to Boston and introduced new characters, it didn’t quite capture the same magic. Grammer attributes this more to the platform than the content.
In an interview with the New York Post earlier this year, Grammer expressed that he believes there’s a better platform out there for Frasier. He mentioned that Paramount+ didn’t give the show the promotion and attention it deserved, partly due to internal changes at the network. Despite these challenges, Grammer remains hopeful, emphasizing the show’s loyal fan base and potential for success with the right support.
The Frasier revival explored Frasier’s return to Boston after his father’s passing and included subtle nods to Cheers, the iconic show that introduced the character in 1984. Grammer even teased the possibility of a reunion with Ted Danson, aka Sam Malone. The future of Frasier is uncertain as CBS Studios is currently shopping the series around, with no announcement yet on its next home.
For now, Frasier may be off the air, but the story isn’t over. Fans can look forward to what comes next for the beloved character.
