CBS announces cancellation of The Equalizer and FBI spin-offs following fan backlash

CBS recently announced the cancellation of four of its popular TV shows, much to the disappointment of fans. The network revealed that FBI spin-offs Most Wanted and International, SWAT, and The Equalizer will not be returning for new seasons.

The decision to end The Equalizer, starring Queen Latifah, came as a surprise to many, especially since it was one of the network’s most-watched dramas. The series concluded with its season five finale, marking the end of the show.

While FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International are still airing episodes, their final episodes are set to air on May 20th. CBS President of Entertainment, Amy Reisenbach, explained that the decision to cancel these shows was a tough one, considering various factors such as scheduling, ratings, and finances.

Fans have speculated that the cancellation of these shows could make room for the new spin-off FBI: CIA, starring Tom Ellis. The original FBI series will continue to air, with plans to launch a new two-hour block next season.

Regarding the cancellation of SWAT, Reisenbach stated that there are no plans to bring back the show, making its cancellation permanent. The series, which focuses on the Los Angeles Police Department, had previously been cancelled and renewed but will not be returning for another season.

While fans may be disappointed by the cancellations, CBS is looking forward to launching new shows and exploring different creative opportunities in the upcoming seasons.
