Marvel Disney+ Shows: Big Change Rumored After Vision
Marvel Studios has been delivering TV shows connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+ since 2021. These shows introduce new characters like Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk while also spotlighting established favorites from the movies, such as Loki and Hawkeye. However, a new rumor suggests that things might change after the release of the upcoming Marvel TV show Vision.
According to The InSneider via ComicBookMovie, Vision (working title Vision Quest) is rumored to be “the last Marvel series to feature major characters from the movies.” This change may be due to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige feeling that watching the MCU’s movies and TV shows has started to feel like homework rather than entertainment.
While these future Marvel shows on Disney+ will still reference major characters, like when characters mentioned Spider-Man in Daredevil: Born Again, the focus will shift to characters meant primarily for streaming. This doesn’t mean characters from the movies won’t appear at all, but they may not be as prevalent. This approach could make the MCU shows more self-contained and less mandatory for overall viewing.
I have mixed feelings about this potential shift. On one hand, it can be overwhelming to keep up with every movie and show in the MCU. Making the shows more self-contained could make them more accessible. However, I worry that distancing the TV shows from the movies could make the overall mythology feel disconnected. It’s important to find a balance that keeps fans engaged without making things too complicated.
While we’ll have to wait until 2026 for Vision to premiere and see how this rumored change plays out, Ironheart is up next on the MCU’s TV lineup, premiering on June 24. Only time will tell if this shift will enhance the Marvel viewing experience or create new challenges for fans to navigate.
