Disney+ POVs: Wishes, Expectations, and Fantasies

Over the weekend, Disney Parks treated fans to some special May the Fourth POV videos that took viewers inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland on Disney+. It was a blast to dive into the Star Wars universe, but there’s a little twist to the whole thing.

Originally, the announcement hyped the videos as a way to “celebrate 70 years of Disneyland imagination with a cinematic ride-along through Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.” The POV journey promises to showcase decades of groundbreaking innovations that have brought science fiction to life, starting your mission on Batuu and leading to an exhilarating escape from the First Order.

From my perspective, it seems like this might be more about celebrating Disneyland Park’s 70th anniversary than solely focusing on Star Wars, and these videos might just be the beginning of something bigger for the streamer in honor of Disneyland’s milestone.

It’s clear that Disney+ is really trying to draw subscribers away from other platforms like YouTube, especially with efforts like Behind the Attraction. The attraction and land POV videos are crafted with cinematic charm, leaving us to wonder what other exciting projects might be in store for the 70th anniversary celebration of Disneyland starting on May 16th, 2025. Could we see more parks featured, like Disney California Adventure, which will be turning 25 in 2026?

When thinking about potential attractions to highlight, it’s hard not to consider other major experiences like the Indiana Jones Adventure if Rise of the Resistance was the first pick. The timing makes sense since this attraction was actually a gift to Disneyland for its 40th anniversary in 1995. Similar to Rise of the Resistance, the Indiana Jones Adventure has its own cinematic quality that begins from the moment you step into the queue. Its immersive design was groundbreaking and holds up to this day, offering multiple variations for an official POV experience once riders reach the Chamber of Destiny. This particular effect used to feature an impressive sliding door mechanism, but now it’s simplified for a seamless ride experience.
