Disney+ Gains 1.4 Million Subscribers
Disney+ is celebrating a significant milestone with the addition of 1.4 million new subscribers worldwide in the last quarter. Disney’s quarterly results reveal the positive growth numbers for not only Disney+, but also Hulu, showing a combined increase of 2.5 million new subscribers to their streaming services. This data, based on subscriber counts as of March 29th, 2025, gives us a good view of the steady growth of these popular platforms.
In addition to growing its subscriber base, Disney also saw a rise in its Direct-to-Consumer operating income, from $289 million to $336 million. This financial success reflects the company’s strategic focus on expanding its streaming services and providing content that resonates with audiences worldwide.
A notable exclusion from the recent subscriber count was Disney+ Hotstar in India, which was rebranded as JioHotstar after Star India’s merger with Reliance. Despite this change, Disney remains optimistic about its direction and future growth opportunities. CEO Bob Iger highlighted the company’s successful performance and emphasized the ongoing commitment to strategic priorities and delivering quality entertainment experiences.
Looking at the breakdown per region, Disney+ has 124.6 million subscribers globally, with more than half of that number coming from international markets. Hulu, available in the US, boasts 50.3 million subscribers.
With the recent positive trajectory in subscriber numbers and financial performance, Disney’s streaming services continue to be a powerhouse in the entertainment industry. It will be interesting to see how the company further enhances its offerings to attract even more subscribers in the future, ultimately driving increased profits for the streaming division.
