Disney CEO: Importance of Quality Over Quantity in Content
Disney’s CEO recently admitted that the company may have gotten a bit carried away with producing content for their streaming platform Disney+. Bob Iger shared during The Walt Disney Company’s latest results presentation that their focus on quantity might have side-tracked them from delivering the best quality.
Iger specifically mentioned the fast-paced production of Marvel content as a culprit in Disney’s content flood strategy. He commented that in their eagerness to fill Disney+ with more shows and movies, they may have asked their creative teams, including Marvel, to produce more content than was ideal.
It seems Disney has come to the realization that churning out content in high quantities does not guarantee that every piece will be top-notch. This moment of reflection highlights the challenges that arise when aiming to keep a streaming platform well-stocked while maintaining a high standard of quality across the board.
