$4M makeover planned for St. Lucie West and Peacock Boulevard intersection in Port St. Lucie

Next week, a significant project is set to begin at the intersection of St. Lucie West Boulevard and Northwest Peacock Boulevard in Port St. Lucie. Thousands of vehicles pass through this intersection every day, so the city is investing $4 million to revamp it. The construction is scheduled to wrap up by Spring 2026. As the city continues to grow, officials are looking to enhance safety and mobility at this busy intersection.

Beth Zsoka from Port St. Lucie Public Works highlighted some of the key improvements that will be made. These include adding a new left-turn lane from St. Lucie West onto Peacock Boulevard, introducing a second right-turn lane from southbound Peacock Boulevard to St. Lucie West, and creating a dedicated right-turn lane from northbound Peacock Boulevard. Additionally, a third westbound lane on St. Lucie West will connect directly to the I-95 northbound on-ramp.

Local residents, like David Gomez from St. Lucie West Pizzeria, are bracing for potential traffic challenges during the construction period. Gomez, who commutes from Tradition, shared his concerns about the impact of the construction on traffic flow in the area. The goal of this major makeover is to improve traffic flow and safety for residents and visitors alike.

The project has been strategically timed to avoid disruptions during the New York Mets’ spring training season. With the completion of this $4 million road improvement initiative, commuters can expect smoother journeys and enhanced access to key roadways. This transformation is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to accommodate its growing population and ensure safe, efficient traffic management.
