Peabody Awards Winners: Baby Reindeer, Ripley, Shogun
The Peabody Awards recently announced its 2025 winners, celebrating excellence in various categories like entertainment, news, documentary, arts, and more. Netflix led the pack with six wins, including documentaries like Daughters, Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa, and The Remarkable Life of Ibelin. HBO MAX followed closely with four awards for shows like Night is Not Eternal and STAX: Soulsville U.S.A.
The entertainment category had some exciting winners too! Netflix’s Baby Reindeer and Ripley, Peacock’s We are Lady Parts, and FX’s Shogun and Say Nothing all snagged prestigious awards. These shows cover a wide range of contemporary and historical topics, from rural healthcare to authoritarianism, bringing attention to important issues in an engaging way.
Jeffrey Jones, the executive director of Peabody, highlighted the diverse themes covered by this year’s winners, noting that they shed light on global issues and brought communities together through entertainment. The 34 winners, selected from over 1,000 entries by a panel of 27 jurors, will be honored at a ceremony on June 1 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, hosted by comedian and actor Roy Wood Jr. It’s a celebration of storytelling excellence that deserves recognition and applause.
