Jeremy Renner Reveals Rejection of Offer for ‘Hawkeye’ Season 2

Jeremy Renner, known for his role as Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye in the original Disney+ series “Hawkeye,” recently revealed in an interview his decision to turn down an offer for a second season. The series, which premiered on November 24, 2021, featured stars like Hailee Steinfeld, Florence Pugh, and Alaqua Cox alongside Renner.

In the interview, Renner shared that he declined the offer from Marvel and Disney after being offered only half of his original salary for Season 2. The actor mentioned that the reduced pay was not justifiable considering the amount of work and time it would require. Renner highlighted that his salary cut may have been influenced by a serious accident he faced in 2023, where he was nearly fatally injured after being pulled under a snowplow while trying to protect his nephew.

Renner expressed his disappointment in Marvel’s offer, calling it an “insult” and emphasizing that he did not ask for more money than what was agreed upon for the first season. Despite his love for the character, Renner stood his ground in defending his decision to decline the offer.

With Renner’s refusal to return for a second season, the fate of “Hawkeye” remains uncertain. However, a series titled “Echo” featuring Alaqua Cox has officially begun production in 2022, and Florence Pugh recently reprised her role as Yelena Belova in “Thunderbolts*.”

As fans await updates on the future of the series, it’s clear that Renner’s dedication to his craft and character is unwavering, even in the face of challenging circumstances.
