2025 Peabody Award Winners: Baby Reindeer, Shōgun, Will and Harper

The 2025 Peabody Awards have officially wrapped up, with Netflix leading the pack by taking home six prestigious honors. These awards recognize the most engaging and impactful stories from both broadcast and streaming platforms in 2024.

A total of 34 awards were presented this year, selected from a pool of over 1,000 entries by a panel of 27 jurors. The entries spanned a wide range of mediums, including television, podcasts, documentaries, youth programming, and interactive media. Netflix dominated the documentary category with wins for compelling titles like “Daughters,” “Mountain Queen: The Summits of Lhakpa Sherpa,” “The Remarkable Life of Ibelin,” and “Will & Harper.” The streamer also clinched victories in the entertainment category for Richard Gadd’s hit limited series “Baby Reindeer” and the visually impressive “Ripley.”

Following closely behind Netflix was HBO and Max, securing four wins, while PBS, FX/Hulu, and Al Jazeera each took home two awards. Documentaries were the standout category this year, grabbing 12 of the coveted awards, with entertainment, interactive/immersive programming, podcasts/radio, and news each earning their share of recognition.

Jeffrey Jones, the executive director of Peabody, highlighted the diversity and importance of this year’s winners, addressing issues such as the war in Gaza, rural healthcare, disabilities, authoritarianism, and sexual violence. From enlightening global matters to spreading smiles through entertaining content, each winning work contributes meaningfully to our media landscape.

The 85th Annual Peabody Awards will celebrate these outstanding achievements on June 1 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. The event will be hosted by Roy Wood Jr., a familiar face from CNN’s “Have I Got News for You” and “The Daily Show.” The ceremony promises to be a star-studded affair, produced by Bob Bain Productions.
