VAARIN ‘Heading Home’ Album Takes Us Back to Where It All Started
VAARIN is back with her latest album, Heading Home, which delves into themes of memory, identity, and the idea of home. This album marks her third release and is her most personal yet, offering a more stripped-down sound that has resonated with fans, garnering over 2.7 million streams.
Growing up in a creative household with a visual artist mother and a former rocker father, VAARIN was immersed in music and art from a young age. Influenced by artists like Joni Mitchell and The Beatles, she began composing music on a Rhodes piano at just 14 years old, setting the stage for her unique cinematic sound.
Her breakout track, “Lovers In Memory,” gained national attention and led to performances alongside notable artists like AURORA, Fay Wildhagen, and Thomas Dybdahl. Despite these accomplishments, VAARIN remains grounded in her roots, drawing inspiration from her hometown of Hokksund.
Written during train rides back to her hometown, Heading Home weaves together elements of folk music with instruments like upright bass, pedal steel, and harding fiddle. The songs on the album evoke a sense of stillness and nostalgia, paying tribute to her beginnings and the people who have shaped her journey.
Drawing inspiration from iconic artists like Kate Bush, Tori Amos, and Radka Toneff, VAARIN’s music reflects emotional depth while carving out her own path. Her thoughtful lyrics and captivating phrasing create a unique listening experience that invites introspection and reflection.
Whether performing on stage or listening in solitude, VAARIN’s music creates a space for contemplation and connection. Heading Home serves as a reminder of the sacredness of memory and the comfort of returning to a place that feels like home.
