Will Sharpe writes romcom “Prodigies” for Apple TV+
Apple TV+ has given the green light to a new romcom called “Prodigies,” which will star Will Sharpe, known for his roles in “The White Lotus” and “A Real Pain,” alongside Ayo Edebiri, recognized for her work on “The Bear” and “After the Hunt.”
The series, consisting of seven episodes, is the brainchild of Will Sharpe, who not only created and wrote the show but will also direct it. The production will be handled by SISTER, with Ayo Edebiri joining as an executive producer.
“Prodigies” follows the story of Didi (Edebiri) and Ren (Sharpe), two former child prodigies who have grown up together. Now in their thirties, they are grappling with the reality that their current lives may not be meeting the extraordinary expectations set for them in their childhood. This realization also extends to their relationship, as they navigate the complexities of balancing individual aspirations with their shared journey. The series aims to challenge the conventional notion in romantic storytelling that the story ends when the couple gets together. In real life, the creators posit, that’s just the beginning.
Apart from Sharpe and Edebiri, the executive producers for “Prodigies” include Jane Featherstone, Naomi De Pear, and Katie Carpenter from SISTER.
