Apple TV+ is currently streaming the first four episodes of “Government Cheese,” a comedy-drama set in 1969 California. The series stars David Oyelowo as Hampton Chambers, a former inmate with big dreams. Each Wednesday, new episodes will be released until May 28, with a mix of hour-long and 30-minute segments.
Returning home to a frosty reception from his family, Hampton sets out to invent a self-sharpening drill called the Bit Magician. Despite his unconventional methods, Hampton’s determination to succeed is met with skepticism from his sons and challenges as an ex-convict trying to start a business.
