Apple TV Unable to Identify Andrew McCutchen During Pirates Game

During a recent broadcast of the game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds on Apple TV+, someone behind the scenes didn’t quite recognize Andrew McCutchen, a five-time All-Star and former National League MVP. While Pittsburgh’s Paul Skenes was being interviewed, the camera kept cutting away to someone in the dugout who definitely wasn’t McCutchen. Oops!

Skenes, reminiscing about McCutchen’s MVP year and playoff appearances with the Pirates, was visibly talking about the veteran player while the camera was focused on the wrong person in the dugout. Twitter users were quick to point it out, questioning if Apple TV+ really mistook McCutchen for someone else.

It’s funny how even the most recognizable athletes can sometimes get overlooked, but rest assured, McCutchen’s reputation precedes him. Hopefully, Apple TV+ will get to know him a little better next time.
