Historic Looney Tunes Shorts Removed on Movie Opening Weekend

Warner Brothers made a big move recently by removing all the original Looney Tunes shorts from HBO Max. These classic shorts, which date back to the 1930s, were a key part of Warner Brothers’ history and the animation industry as a whole. Despite their cultural significance, the company decided to focus more on adult and family programming, leaving fans of the classics feeling a little lost.

This removal also coincided with the release of a new Looney Tunes movie called “The Day the Earth Blew Up,” which hit theaters on March 14. The film, produced by Max but ultimately sold to Ketchup Entertainment, didn’t quite make a bang at the box office, bringing in just over $3 million on opening weekend. It’s a shame that such a beloved franchise like Looney Tunes is facing these challenges.

This isn’t the first time Warner Brothers has made controversial decisions regarding their Looney Tunes projects. Last year, they shelved another film, “Coyote Vs. Acme,” despite it being completed, claiming that it was too expensive to distribute. Fans, including star Will Forte, expressed anger and frustration over this choice, calling it out as a disservice to the animation community.

If you’re missing the classic Looney Tunes shorts, don’t worry! You can still find some of the spinoff shows on HBO Max. And while the originals may be gone for now, their legacy lives on in the hearts of fans everywhere. Let’s hope that one day we can all enjoy these timeless classics once again.
