ESPN on Disney+ Launches in Australia and New Zealand
Disney+ is expanding its sports offerings in Australia and New Zealand by adding ESPN to its lineup. ESPN made its debut on the platform in Latin America last summer and in the U.S. in December. This move makes Australia and New Zealand the first English-speaking markets outside North America to receive ESPN on Disney+. Sports fans in these regions can expect more than 10,000 hours of sports content, including live ESPN and ESPN2 channels, on-demand replays, and original programming. This content will be available to all Disney+ Premium and Standard subscribers.
Kylie Watson-Wheeler, senior VP and managing director of The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand and head of ESPN Asia-Pacific, expressed excitement about the partnership, calling it an innovative game-changer that enriches the content offering and provides value to subscribers. The addition of ESPN on Disney+ will give users access to a wide range of sports content, from live games to on-demand replays. In addition to global sporting events, ESPN will also provide dedicated local programming to cater to audiences of all ages.
ESPN is not exclusive to Disney+ as it is also accessible through other platforms in the region like Foxtel, Kayo Sport, Fetch TV, and Sky NZ. This collaboration between Disney+ and ESPN marks a significant step towards enhancing the streaming experience for sports enthusiasts in Australia and New Zealand.
